Having a pre-existing condition can
be a huge hassle when it comes to getting health coverage. A solution to fixing
this problem is to know a lot about what your current insurer offers. A lot of
people don’t know as much information on their health insurance as they really
should. So having that type of knowledge can be really helpful when it comes to
talking about your pre-existing condition with them. A second solution to
fixing this problem is to not be afraid to talk to your insurer about your
pre-existing condition. A lot of people don’t get coverage because they don’t
discuss their condition with the people who are going to be paying for it. In
the long run, talking with your insurance provider will help you out and things
will more than likely work in your favor. A third and final solution to fix
this problem is to make it known. I know when we found out about my older
sisters condition, at the time, not many people knew about it. As in, not many
insurance companies even knew it existed. But after about a year, they would
put information about covering this condition out in the public and more and
more people were able to start getting covered because of it.
Good ideas for solutions, Amanda. What are some of the drawbacks of each of these options? I was thinking that some people probably really struggle with understanding their health insurance: sometimes it is pretty complicated. That might be one drawback.
